Treasuring moments of a caesarean with photography

February 9, 2020

Birth photography isn't for everyone. I get that.

But can anyone deny that birth is a momentous and life changing pivotal moment?

Thought not.

I've watched birth so many times as a midwife, marvelled at how compelling and beautiful even moments of struggle could be...because I knew that in most happy endings, the pain was worth it.

So many times have I watched while I've supported at the most cinematic of moments during birth, the relief, the laughter, the power sheer power of women.

This week I got to document it from a photographic perspective and merge my two career passions, midwifery and photography.

And it was mind blowingly AWESOME.

A huge thank you to this amazing family for letting me into your birth space to photograph your birth, for sharing these most intimate of memories and to the staff at Boston Maternity Unit for being so professional and welcoming.

Here is 'The Birth of Olive'.

Anyone considering birth photography, please do get in touch here as I will have a minimal number of spaces left whilst I build a portfolio.

If you wish to take a look at my newborn work you can find some here.
