The new luxury wedding venue in Cambridgeshire - Holmewood Hall
September 11, 2019
Nobody can say that Peterborough in Cambridgeshire lacks a grand and beautiful wedding venue. The arrival of Holmewood Hall in the area is a welcome addition to the choice of luxury wedding venues and is fabulously close for couples who don't want to travel too far from the city and enjoy the quiet and rambling english countryside of the little picturesque village of Holme.
I had the pleasure of photographing my first wedding there last weekend and I absolutely loved it! So I wanted to share some thoughts, and photos of course(!!), with you all.
After visiting lots of wedding venues over the years I've come to the conclusion that a venue can be as beautiful and perfect as you like...but ultimately the staff put the frosting on it to make a great venue, a spectacular venue. From the moment you enter Holmewood Hall, you are attended to with care and professionalism.
The gardens are superbly maintained and offer no end of couple photograph possibilities for your wedding photographs. We didn't get to exhaust anywhere near all the options available on the day.
We were blessed with amazing weather, with rain falling only when everyone was sat for their delicious wedding breakfast, but had it been raining all day we still would have had plenty of options for fabulous group and couple photographs within the house which is always a welcome addition to a venue given our unpredictable summers!
That's enough blabber from me without any images though, so let's take a look at just why this venue will be so very popular...
The bridal suite is perfection. So much room, decadently decorated...and most importantly, has the most beautiful lighting. You can have quite a few bridesmaids in here without struggling for room or juggling for window light for your makeup to be done. The statement mirror (which apparently comes from Claridges in London) makes the perfect backdrop for your makeup shots, and the four poster bed is purpose made to hang your wedding dress and lots of bridesmaid dresses on.
When you're ready and if there is time for bridal portraits (blog post on perfect bridal prep coming up soon!) the room makes an ideal backdrop for some breathtaking portraits of you just before you head down to the ceremony.
It's not just the bridal suite that's beautiful however, all your guests will be spoilt in their individually decorated and spacious bedrooms and make brilliant settings for groom prep for example.
The ceremony room is grand and well lit, with plenty of seating. For summer weddings, there is also the choice of an outdoor ceremony in a gorgeous pergola surrounded by the beautiful gardens.
There is certainly no shortage of space to enjoy your reception...
And lots of room to take your group photographs too.
I was also completely bowled over by the grand hall which makes a fantastic spot for your first dance, complete with a piano which I would love to see occupied for a first dance one day!
Moving later into the night you also have the option of another bar and dance floor which for Caitlin and Kierans's wedding was absolutely crammed full of people enjoying Mo Jamil from The Voice's set. I really love to hear live music at a wedding, it's so atmospheric, and his voice was an absolute delight!
