Newborn and maternity photography in Cambridgeshire

July 24, 2018

It's always an honour to photograph you and your families, but sessions like this are extra special. I photographed the lovely Elisabeth as a baby and now I enjoyed the privilege of photographing her again, looking in wonder at Mummy's bump, the last moments as a family of three, and the most precious of all cuddling her new baby brother.

Don't worry about bringing your toddler to the session as I have toys on hand, bubbles and an approach which is never stuffy or too prescriptive. I want your little one to have fun at the session, to relax, and to show their true character. That's best achieved by me encouraging you to interact as a family, to give them tickles, get genuine giggles and therefore the most beautiful smiles. No cheese here...unless you want to capture their 'cheese' for future embarrassment in which case let's take a couple and leave it there!!

If you are incredibly worried about your toddler throughout a newborn shoot for example you are welcome to bring an additional relative who can then take your toddler off home when we have captured the shots with them in. It can be useful to keep the studio fairly peaceful when taking the snoozy shots and as a Mum of two boys I appreciate that isn't always practical!

Did you also know I'm a registered midwife?! So you can be assured I'm not going to put your newborn in any position that isn't safe, or do anything to make your little one unhappy. You can feed however you wish to safe from judgement and I've often taken some beautiful photos both breast and bottle feeding.

Studio sessions are available in Yaxley, near Peterborough in my beautiful private natural light studio. Booking as early as possible is essential as I only take on a limited number of newborns each month. As we know these newborns can come at any time so I ensure I don't overbook incase they all come too close together and I can't schedule them in within the first 14 days (which is ideal for newborns to get snoozy shots).

Here's how it works for maternity and newborn sessions:

Reserve your slot after your 20 week scan and let me know your due date.

If you'd like a maternity shoot, book your session at 36 weeks.

Notify me when you have your new little bundle and schedule your session as soon as possible in the first 14 days.

I leave room in my diary and look forward to you letting me know your their name and maybe seeing me a little photo! The first few days can be extra busy and tiring so make sure you schedule your session when you think you will get the most out of it.
